Updates for this Week!!

Dear Parents,

Our first swim meet of the year is this Saturday!! This also means that this is the last home meet of the regular season, and that the end of the regular season is unfortunately soon approaching :(. A few things I want to address: Please mark your calendars, we are holding a parent meeting next Thursday (1/22) at 7:30 pm to address the upcoming championship and what is expected of the team.

Something else that has been brought to my attention is that our team has been misusing the locker rooms. Please remind your children of the proper locker room etiquette, and that if your child is under 13, they need to be accompanied by an adult to use the locker rooms.

I also want to address a concern about some recent conversations. When coaches are approached abruptly during practice, making certain comments, or when negative remarks about the aquatic staff and coaching decisions circulate among parents, it creates an unhealthy environment that doesn’t uphold our Y values and ultimately doesn't serve our kids. I'd ask that we keep our focus on supporting all the coaches and swimmers as a unified team.

Nevertheless, it remains business as usual, and expectations remain the same! Please make sure to declare your child for the meet before noon tomorrow on Swimtopia!!

Reminders for the Meet this Saturday:

- Ensure your child has their black competition suit and orange swim cap (if you are a new swimmer who has not received a swim cap or needs to purchase one, please stop by the Aquatics office)

- Please be sure to arrive at approximately 1:45 pm

- Our warm-up is at 2:00 pm, and the meet will start at 3:00

- This is a HOME meet taking place at the Forsyth County YMCA

- Your child is expected to swim ALL their events, NO early dismissal

- Make sure to bring Sharpies to write your child's entries on their arm. Even though this is a home meet, we can't ensure that there will be enough Sharpies to borrow (to save time, we recommend you write your child's event at home)

- Be prepared for the swim meet to run late. Bring snacks, towels, and/or parkas to keep your child comfortable and occupied throughout the event

- Please bring proper clothing for your child to stay warm before, during, and after the meet

Also, sign up for any volunteer slots if you are able to; the more helping hands, the better!!

Another reminder to parents to please keep the focus of this swim meet on the swimmers this Saturday, do not be inappropriate, and do not corner the Aquatics Staff to ask questions that are unrelated to the swim meet, such as coaching updates and account/membership questions during the swim meet.

Any updates we have, we will communicate them to you guys!

Go Flyers!
