Weekly Swim Team Update
Good evening,
I hope you are all staying warm and finding every chance to be cozy in this cold weather!
First, I want to sincerely thank you for the kind messages and check-ins regarding my back. It has been a challenge, and your thoughtfulness has meant more than you know. I truly appreciate the support from this team family.
At practice, the swimmers are working hard and making progress. Our focus continues to be on starts, turns, transitions (especially in IMs and at the walls), butterfly, breaststroke, and building overall yardage. All of this work is intentional as we prepare for our final two regular-season meets and the Championship meet at Georgia Tech.
Thank you to the parents who attended our meeting last Thursday evening. I appreciate those of you who took the time to come out, ask questions, and hear accurate information directly. As I shared Thursday night, no one here has quit on you or your swimmers. This staff remains fully committed to providing a strong, positive season for every athlete. We are actively searching for the right head coach for this program—someone who is the right long-term fit. While I don’t have a firm timeline to share, I am confident we are close and moving in the right direction.
A reminder regarding meet entries: all swimmers must swim every event during the regular season. I know some swimmers were disappointed with event selections at the last meet, but this expectation has been communicated since our first meeting. When it comes to Championships, swimmers will be entered in their strongest events. Consistent practice attendance is critical to that success. Our training plans are built around the entire season, practice groups, and the number of practices offered each week—and this approach has not changed, regardless of who is serving as head coach.
Please be sure to communicate your swimmer’s availability for upcoming meets:
- February 7 – Tull-Gwinnett YMCA
- February 21 – Home Meet (make-up)
I must know whether your swimmer will attend on Swimtopia each meet by noon on the Tuesday prior.
For the Georgia Tech Championship Meet, I must know your plans to attend by Thursday, February 19. More details will be coming soon.
We will also celebrate our swimmers at the 2025–2026 Flyers Banquet on Thursday, March 5. Location and time will be shared shortly.
There is a lot to look forward to, and I am excited to finish this season strong together. Thank you again for your continued support, flexibility, and trust. Please know that we are all committed to your swimmers and to this program.
Go Flyers!
