Forsyth Flyers Updates, Schedule Changes & Important Reminders
Good afternoon, Flyers Families!
I hope everyone is doing well and settling into the new school year and swim season.
We are so excited to welcome all of our returning families and especially our many new Flyers families this year! There is a lot happening behind the scenes right now, and we appreciate your patience, support, and partnership as we work to make this a great season for every swimmer.
I have been on vacation and will also be traveling next week for work, but I will continue checking and responding to emails throughout the day. I am still catching up on all of the emails from the last 10 days, so thank you for your patience.
I have received several questions about the swim team schedule, days off, practice changes, meets, and how information is communicated, so I wanted to put everything in one place for everyone.
PLEASE CHECK SWIMTOPIA & READ YOUR EMAILS
Every swimmer must be registered for the team through SWIMTOPIA, using the link provided in your welcome letter. Please make sure the contact information listed in SwimTopia belongs to the person who is responsible for your household schedule, transportation to practices and meets, and swim team communication.
Coach Chris will continue reminding swimmers at practices when there are important schedule changes, but swimmers should not be responsible for relaying important information home.
Parents and guardians must read team emails and regularly check SwimTopia.
We truly work hard to limit the number of emails we send, so when you receive one, please take a few minutes to read it. Every email contains information that is important to the team and will likely affect your swimmer at some point during the season.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS — UPCOMING PRACTICE SCHEDULE
Please make note of the following dates and changes:
- No swim team practice on YMCA abbreviated-schedule days: Labor Day; Wednesday, November 25; Thursday, December 24; Thursday, December 31; and Friday, January 1.
- The YMCA is closed on Thanksgiving Day, November 26; Christmas Day, December 25; and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 18.
- Fall Break: We WILL have our regular swim team practice schedule during Forsyth County Schools Fall Break, September 28–October 2.
- Thanksgiving Week: We WILL have regular practices on Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24.
- Winter Holiday Practices: We will have practices on select days during Winter Break. These dates will be emailed to families and posted on the SwimTopia calendar by October 1. Typically, we practice 2–3 days each week depending on where the holidays fall.
- Swim Meets: ALL currently scheduled swim meets for the remainder of the season are already loaded into SwimTopia. I will send additional meet information at the beginning of next week, so please begin looking at those dates now and mark your calendars.
- SILVER 2 MORNING PRACTICE OPTION: Beginning Tuesday, September 22, Silver 2 swimmers may attend morning practices on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 5:15–6:45 AM. Swimmers MUST arrive on time in order to participate.
MORE EXCITING THINGS ARE COMING!
We are also currently working through the process of obtaining our USA Swimming club designation. This is an exciting step for the Forsyth Flyers and will create additional opportunities for our swimmers, including allowing eligible high school swimmers to attach to a USA Swimming club while competing for their high school, among other benefits.
There are still several pieces being completed behind the scenes, and we will send families detailed information once everything is finalized.
As you can see, there is A LOT happening with the Flyers! Building schedules, coordinating meets, managing registrations, communicating changes, developing new opportunities, and growing our program takes time and a whole lot of teamwork.
That is where we need your help.
Please support us by reading emails, checking SwimTopia, keeping your contact information current, marking important dates on your calendar, and asking questions when something is unclear. When families stay informed, it allows our coaches and staff to spend less time chasing information and more time doing what matters most — coaching your swimmer, developing their skills, building their confidence, and helping them succeed in the water.
We are incredibly happy to have so many new families joining our Flyers community this season, and we want everyone — new and returning — to feel informed, connected, and prepared.
Thank you for your patience, your support, and for trusting us with your swimmers. We have a lot to look forward to this season, and we are excited about where this team is headed!
GO FLYERS! 🏊♀️🏊♂️
Best,
Caroline
